7 of Wands

Meaning:

This card is all about holding true to your integrity, to what you know is right, and you will win a long sought after reward. The fight that has gotten to you this point has likely been bloody and ugly, and you’ve met with some shady characters along the way. But, like this man, you choose the high road, the high ground, and when you do, you will win every time. You will have had to defend yourself and your honor in this battle, but it’s about to pay off big time. There’s an advantage to this card that is not seen inherently, but is implied with the look of satisfaction on the man’s face. You are about to call check mate on something, and your opponent has no idea what’s coming. It will be a big reward for you when you stick to that high ground.

Symbolism:

In this card we see a man on a hill, his feet are placed in two different directions and he is putting rods or staves, or wands, into the ground with great perseverance. He has already put six in quite successfully, and you can see the determination on his face, and the triumph as well as he begins to place the last and seventh wand. His feet are braced apart as if he is about to make his final move in a game of chess, and metaphorically, he is. And this is the symbolism of this card. This man is about to enter the check mate stage. And it has been a long and difficult road. He has faced some worthy adversaries, and some of them have even been shady. But he has stuck to his integrity and values, and fought an honest fight. And he’s about to win. Check mate.
